Fans of theater are quick to say that theater is able to imitate and influence real life. Terrific New Theatre’s production of “Grand Concourse” aims to do just that. The Southeastern premiere of this Lilly Award winning play will run Thursday through Saturdays, October 27 to November 19, 2016 at 8 p.m. and Sunday, November 6, 2016 at 2:30 p.m.
The play is set in in a soup kitchen in the Grand Concourse thoroughfare in the Bronx, New York City. It follows Shelley, the woman who runs the kitchen efficiently but without passion, and Emma, an idealistic college dropout who comes to volunteer, as they navigate faith, forgiveness and the pursuit of joy.
Humorous and compassionate, the play deals with the issue of hungry people who cannot afford a hot meal. In response, Terrific New Theatre has partnered with The Community Kitchen’s of Birmingham and will be accepting donations throughout the run of the show.
